BMW Service in Calgary

BMW Service is something you absolutely need to be on top of if you want to maintain the vehicle's high performance for as long as possible.  These are top-end vehicles and they require proper care.  We help extend the life of your 3-series whether you drive a BMW 325, BMW 330, BMW 335, or even a BMW M.  Are you the owner of one of the larger BMW 5-series like the BMW 530i, BMW 540i, or a BMW M550i we have lots BMW mechanics with loads of experience in servicing and repairing these cars too.  If you've looked around our beautiful city in the winter you become quite aware of the fact that we enjoy the reliability of our trucks and SUVs...  which means we are can service your BMW X5s and X3s to get you back on the road as quickly as possible.  If you have an exhaust rattle, we can handle that!  As much as Alberta loves the oil and gas industry... we are seeing an increase in electric vehicles (EVs) and if you are looking for a BMW service shop to handle your BMW i3 or BMW i8 you can look no further!  We'd love to be your go-to for electric vehicle service in Calgary.

BMW Service Scheduling

BMW Service Schedule is grouped into three categories: Oil Service & Safety Service, Inspection 1, and Inspection 2. More recent BMWs will let you know when BMW service is due, but regardless, it is a good idea to familiarize yourself with the maintenance schedule.  Read the schedule below and then be sure to get your vehicle in to our Calgary service centre as needed.

  1. BMW Intermediate Oil Service: Frequent and relatively inexpensive, your Service Interval System will tell you when you need an oil change.  If in doubt, a good guideline is to get one every 8,000 – 10,000 km.  At Euroworks, we’ll use the right tools, the right lubricants, and do it the right way from start to finish, every time.

  2. BMW Oil & Safety Service: A bit more in-depth, this includes the oil change and filter, as well as a safety check of your entire vehicle.  This is a great check-up before any long trips, as it tests your brakes, indicator and dashboard lights, belts and hoses, fluids, steering, leaks, as well as your suspension.  You can drive in peace knowing that we’ve given it a proper inspection!

  3. BMW Inspection 1: The BMW Inspection 1, also known as the "Minor Service", is the smaller service recommended by BMW.
($250 for inspection; plus any additional parts & labour)
On 1986 - 1998 models, it is recommended at
    32,000km, 100,000km, & 175,000km
On 1999 and later models, it is recommended at
    50,000km, 150,000km, & 225,000km

  4. BMW Inspection 2: The BMW Inspection 2, also known as the "Major Service", is the larger service recommended by BMW.
($250 for inspection; plus any additional parts & labour)
On 1986 - 1998 models, it is recommended at
    65,000km, 125,000km, & 200,000km
On 1999 and later models, it is recommended at
    100,000km & 200,000 km

BMW Condition Based Service

BMW Service - Condition Based Service
BMW Condition Based Service (CBS), keeps you in tune with your car. CBS calculates and monitors the status of wearing components and fluid levels as well as time and mileage based services. As a result, rigid service schedules have become a thing of the past. It also checks the time/km recommendations for service intervals. It analyzes this data and tells you when BMW Service is next due. This information can be checked at a glance in your InfoDisplay or Control Display (depending on your model). The Service Requirement Indicator on the InfoDisplay automatically gives you four weeks notice so you can plan your service appointments well in advance and avoid any unnecessary maintenance work. With the Condition Based Service, you save time and money.

BMW Components Supported By CBS

The type of CBS components supported on a particular model will vary depending on specification and engine type. Items fall into 2 main groups:

1) Sensor based items
These items are monitored by physical and virtual sensors with some reference being made to variables such as vehicle mileage, driving styles and temperature. Items included in this group are:
- Engine Oil: Monitored by the DME/DDE engine control module
- Micro Filter/Pollen Filter: Monitored by the IHKA climate control module
- Front Brake Pads: Monitored by the DSC stability control module
- Rear Brake Pads: Monitored by the DSC stability control module
- Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF): Monitored by the DME/DDE engine control module

2) Internally calculated items
Certain items monitored by the CBS system do not require physical sensors. These serviceable items still operate under fixed intervals with remaining service life calculated by the instrument cluster based on time and distance. Items included in this group are:
- Brake Fluid
- Spark Plugs
- User Interface
- Instrument Cluster

The instrument cluster gives advanced notification of any pending service requirements via information displayed on the LCD. This is displayed in the form on a ‘SERVICE’ warning followed by information relevant to the component requiring maintenance. BMW aim to give approximately four weeks advanced notification of any maintenance requirements to prevent drivers accidentally ‘running over’ service schedules.

BMW i-Drive Service Menu
Further information can be accessed via the i-Drive system. By navigating through the BMW i-Drive menu into the ‘Service Menu’, it is possible to check the current state and remaining serviceable life of all CBS monitored components. Each item will be highlighted in either Green, Yellow, or Red and display a percentage value indicating remaining serviceable life.

Green Item = No service required at present
Yellow Item = Service life nearing its end
Red Item = Service deadline has been passed
