Regular maintenance helps ensure that your vehicle's safety and operational reliability are maintained and that both you and your car are ready for the road ahead - and here in Calgary, that's usually a slippery road! Look no further than your dashboard for a service reminder from your Mercedes-Benz Maintenance System. It will track the distance driven and the time elapsed since your last service. It will also calculate service items that need to be performed and other required maintenance work. When the time comes, the system will inform you of the next necessary maintenance service through the multifunction display in the instrument cluster.
Scheduled Maintenance: Mercedes Benzreally only has two types of service intervals: each interval alternates with the other but gets a new name each time, which really makes the Mercedes service tracking tricky. Here is a breakdown, applicable to most Mercedes Benz models, that will explain the two main service types.
Mercedes Oil Service This service is the most frequent and least costly service. The Service Interval System will let you know when it is time to change your oil, but a typical interval on a modern Mercedes Benz will be 8,000 - 10,000 km.
Mercedes A Service / C Service / E Service: ($250 for inspection; plus any additional parts & labor) - Oil and oil filter change - Fluids are topped up and tire pressures are adjusted to factory spec. - Following the service, the service light is reset using our factory diagnostic tool. - Inspection of: belts, exterior lights, filters, hoses, tire wear, front & rear brakes, the engine bay and undercarriage for any major fluid leaks, the suspension condition for wear or safety concerns.
Mercedes B Service / D Service / F Service: ($250 for inspection; plus any additional parts & labor) - Oil and oil filter change - Fluids are topped up and tire pressures are adjusted to factory spec - Tires are rotated - Engine air filter is inspected - Cabin air filter is inspected - Following the service, the service light is reset using our factory diagnostic tool - Fuel system and oil system cleaners are added. - Inspection of: belts, exterior lights, filters, hoses, tire wear, front & rear brakes, the engine bay and undercarriage for any major fluid leaks, the suspension condition for wear or safety concerns, a climate control function test is performed to check for proper operation.
1997 - Present Mercedes Benz Service (All Models)
A Service 1998-2003 Mercedes Benz model years are programmed to prompt for A Service in increments of 16,000 km. A service message will display at 16,000 km, 48,000 km, 80,000 km, etc. As of 2003, those service intervals changed to 20,000 km. At Euroworks, we perform an oil and filter change at each Mercedes Benzservice interval, but we do recommend Oil Change Service every 10,000km. As we perform the Oil Change we will give a complete inspection: belts, exterior lights, filters, hoses, tire wear, and front & rear brakes are thoroughly inspected; the engine bay and undercarriage are checked for any major fluid leaks; the suspension condition is inspected for wear or safety concerns; fluids are topped up and tire pressures are adjusted to spec. Following our service, the service light is reset using our factory diagnostic tool. B Service 1998-2003 Mercedes Benzmodel years are programed to prompt for B Service in increments of 32,000 km. A service message will display at 32,000 km, 64,000 km, 96,000 km etc. Model years 2003 and newer saw the service intervals increase to 42,000 km. In addition to the oil and Filter Change, we work with you to review your vehicle’s history and make recommendations based on kilometers driven and how the vehicle is being used. When performing B Service everything in an A service inspection is addressed; in addition, tires are rotated, dirty engine air filters and cabin filters are replaced (replacement at extra cost), fuel system and oil system cleaners are added, front and rear end suspension components are inspected for wear, and a climate control function test is performed to check for proper operation. The B-Service is designed to ensure that your car will be reliable and will perform at its best for the next 32,000 km. Due to years of experience and extensive training with Mercedes Benz vehicles, Euroworks in southern Alberta recommends a transmission interval service once every 96,000 km on model years late 1996 to 2007 with the 722.6 transmissions. The transmission service is not listed on Mercedes Benzservice sheets but is a crucial maintenance service that cannot be ignored in the prevention of major transmission wear or possible failure during the service life of this driveline component. The 722.6 transmission on some E Class Models, especially the pre 2000 models, commonly have mechanical problems such as noise and/or metal in the transmission oil pan or filter.
Thank you for the opportunity to service your Mercedes Benz, Calgary and southern Alberta!
