"What is Walnut Blasting?"

You might be asking yourself that question right now.  The quick answer would be that it is when we blast walnut powder through your intake valves to clean them out in a much safer and better way than a rougher powder would... it's carbon cleaning!

"Why Would I Want A Walnut Blast?"

Modern engines are usually direct injection, because this process allows for advantages in fuel consumption as compared to conventional fuel injection, and it also gives you more power with an engine of identical displacement.  The main disadvantage of this is that the normal bathing (and therefore cleaning) of the intake valves via the fuel they are exposed to doesn't happen anymore.  Over time this will lead to deposits of carbonized fuel and oil in the intake tract, as well as on the intake valves themselves (known as carbonizing).

"Is Engine Carbon Buildup Bad?"

Carbon Buildup isn't necessarily bad for your engine right away, but as time goes on this can definitely have a negative impact on your European vehicle's efficiency.  

This blockage of deposits can stop the valves from closing properly and you may develop a bumpy idle, vibrations, and diminished throttle response.  One more thing you may notice is increased oil consumption.

"How Do I Fix Carbon Buildup?"

One way to fix this problem is to completely dismantle the whole intake system and soak it in cleaner for at least 2 full days, and then clean them manually. But as this takes a lot of time, effort, work, and expertise, it can get expensive quickly. Another is to flush the whole system with cleaning solution – but due to the amount of time the solution needs, the process is slow (it can take more than a week, during which you can’t drive the car) and still requires manual cleaning. Clearly neither of these are ideal.
